"Slidell has much to offer to those who locate or relocate here – whether as individuals, families or businesses – and we’re here to accommodate you in any way that we can. Slidell is well-known for its progressive and effective government – even literally in the eye of the storm as we were when Hurricane Katrina roared through the area – and for our business-friendly outlook and our family-friendly environment. Slidell’s progress on the road to recovery has been so remarkable that it’s difficult for those unfamiliar with our community to notice the remains of Katrina’s detritus in our city.
We urge you to give us a close look, but we don’t believe it will take much persuasion on our part for you to decide to locate here. Our record, our achievements, our people – and especially our location at the juncture of three interstates and proximity to a major metropolitan area – speak volumes. Slidell is one of the South’s best kept secrets. Slidell provides all the amenities of a great metropolitan area with the shopping, entertainment and benefits that a big city provides. We’re a city that’s safe and peaceful, thanks to an excellent, nationally-accredited Police Department and, of course, a mostly law- abiding citizenry.
Sports, entertainment and related activities abound in our community. They include fishing or boating in Lake Pontchartrain or the West Pearl River, attending a Saints or Hornets game in New Orleans, enjoying local and regional festivals, or just passing a pleasant time in Heritage Park along scenic Bayou Bonfouca. Slidell also has a thriving cultural scene. Whether its catching a play at Slidell Little Theatre or a new art exhibit at the Slidell Cultural Center or a Bayou Jam concert in Heritage Park, there’s always something to do in Slidell.
Concerned about the public school system? Don’t be. The St. Tammany Parish school system, of which we are a part, is a perennial high-achiever annually at or near the top in terms of performance in the state of Louisiana and one of the best public education systems in the nation.
There’s more. In addition to everything you can find here, our citizens enjoy the convenience of being only 30 miles or so from the food, music, charms, and revelries of New Orleans and the beaches and other attractions of the Gulf Coast.
